Darn you, Ben & Jerry’s! Why did you create the perfect ice cream now?

This morning during my leg workout visions of ice cream lumbered through my head. Not any old ice cream, though, but the brand-new “core” ice creams being advertised by Ben & Jerry’s. Sigh.

cores-landing-promoAsk anyone I know and talk to on a regular basis: I’ve been thinking about these danged ice creams ever since I saw an ad for them on my Facebook timeline a couple weeks ago.

I have shamelessly become a stalker. I clicked on the advertisement to learn more. I’ve visited the Ben & Jerry’s site. I’ve read articles online (Huffington Post called it the perfect scoop. I repeat: sigh.) I’ve sneaked through the ice cream section of Brewer Hannaford (as of March 4, it wasn’t in stock). None at the Brewer Walmart, either. (I have heard reports of sightings at some Bangor stores, but for your sake I will not reveal the locations here. You are on your own.)

Yes, personal trainers enjoy ice cream and other yummy foods. And sometimes we actually eat them. The only problem is that right now I’m in the process of dropping a little bit of weight for the coming spring competition season, and I have to tell you, Ben & Jerry’s, your timing stinks.

Because I really want some of the Peanut Butter Fudge Core. I mean, I really, really do. And I probably wouldn’t turn down the Salted Caramel Core flavor either. Ben & Jerry’s, why? Why did you unveil them now?

In fact, as I was doing walking lunges down the gym hallway this morning, I announced to no one (and also, everyone) that this blog needed to be written, formally condemning Ben & Jerry’s for its timing. And about eight other people (also in the process of getting ready for coming competitions) agreed.

But after the competitions, won’t that ice cream taste all the sweeter? Won’t it?
